I was looking for a reiki practitioner in DC when I found Karuna Joy. I was instantly sold when she explained her sessions were more about educating me on multifaceted self-healing methods and tailoring a healing session with methods from different schools of thought rather than just limiting ourselves to reiki. In other words, reiki is not the end all be all and there are dozens of other healing methods she was not only going to employ but also teach me! I regularly saw Karuna for about 18 months. She is more than a healer, she has been a friend, mother, therapist, teacher, mentor, and guide. I was on a very destructive and dangerous path when I met Karuna, drinking heavily and doing all the drugs. It is because of her teachings, powerful healing, and take-home techniques that I find myself in a healthy, prosperous life.

When I entered the space for my session, I immediately felt a wave of calmness come over me. Karuna made sure I had everything I needed to be completely comfortable and immediately, I fell into a deep sleep like state. All I remember is a vision that I had of throwing something that resembled a starfish out to sea and one of my hands jerked as if it was really happening.

I had two sessions with her, the second one deeper than the first and both times, I came out of the space feeling…. different.

So now, it is about 2 months later, and I can see very clearly how my path has been aligning to my true purpose! A mysterious injury, left me unable to attend a trip I had been planning, so I returned to the states in much dismay. But since that happened, I have a lot of business opportunities coming up and I am even starting my own business! This definitely wouldn’t have happened if I had left the country as planned. A lot of stuff has happened that has seemed misfortunate at first, but looking back it has led me to a place that I feel I am meant to be.

Karuna is such an amazing healer so talented I felt large areas of energetic spots on my body very vividly, like being hugged and aligned by an Angel! I had a very powerful All-Love healing session with Karuna Joy by phone that was just as powerful as the in-person sessions that I had with her. I could feel her energy transmission through her voice, singing and music. It’s hard to find the words. The music was beautiful. Whatever mantra songs and medicine melodies Karuna put together, we sang and chanted deeply, peacefully, joyfully. Awareness Meditation is being perceptive and grounding in true reality which is essential for me. Because usually I want to be somewhere else doing something ”better” and my mind is agitated strongly wanting ”something more”, but not when I’m being totally mindful. Can you relate to that wanting something else desire? But awareness is the absolute opposite, that sure feeling of deep satisfaction where your mind quiets and unwinds sensing your surroundings but not judging anything and everything. To me awareness is simply understanding Life through my soul, relaxing my mind from thinking, constantly judging and calculating. Seeing that the world just is… nothing more and nothing less… not what you want the world to be…and not what you fear and think the world is. If you look at a rock, is it just nothing much or a beautiful crystal? It’s both of course and it’s that simple! Yes it sounds clichéd, but realizing and living with awareness is such graceful true freedom! As when the powerful radiant sunshine heals you throughout, burning off all thought entanglement. Childlike wonderment of your first feeling of your toes in the squishy sand and water engulfing your body soothing your very essence… that’s what it is!
